Tulasi Mata The furious society started troubling Tulasi Mātā, who saw Bhagawan Nityananda in each atom of this earth. People treated her as an insane woman. When she was locked up in a room Bhagawan Nityananda Himself came there to bless her with His darshan.

Though she was beaten cruelly by unkind people she did not change her views. In spite of being condemned by the so called elders of society she was not afraid. With time the superstitious and meaningless orthodox practices were conquered by the unshakable faith and invincible spirit of Tulasi Mātā. Gradually people started respecting her when they realized that Bhagawan Nityananda is God Himself in human form.

Smt.Saraswatibai Kamat, wife of a textile merchant in Kundapur, was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. She had studied Shastras and Purānas. She knew that salvation was impossible without a guru.

This was not unknown to the omnipresent and omniscient Bhagawan Nityananda who was pleased by the devotion of Saraswatibai. He asked Tulasi Mātā to go to Kundapur and accept her as a disciple. With this instruction from Bhagawan Tulasi Mātā was elevated to the designation of a Guru.

Saraswati Amma used to read religious books to the congregation of devotees during Chaturmasa. Meaning and purport of the text was explained by Tulasi Mātā.

Poojya Tulasi Mātā has written a book, 'Sadguru Stavana Atma Sphurana', consisting of seventy seven devotional songs. This was published by Late Ramakrishna Shenoy.

Saraswati Amma built Anandashram in the year 1934 in Mannagudda area in the city of Mangalore. She had purchased land for the construction of ashram by selling her ornaments.

Tulasi Mātā spent the rest of her life at Anandashram in Mangalore meditating and teaching the essence of devotion, worship and ultimate knowledge. Tulasi Mātā took a vow of silence when Bhagawan Nityananda left for Ganeshpuri from Mangalore. Bhagawan had assured that though He would not be present physically in Mangalore Anandashram would be forever under His divine radar. Tulasi Mātā departed from this mortal world in the year 1944.

Poojya Tulasi Mātā got two pairs of golden imprints(pādukas) of her Guru Bhagawan Nityananda prepared and established one pair in Anandashram and gifted another pair to Bhagawan Himself. Later Bhagawan Nityananda gave it to Raghunath Shenoy, a resident of Brahmavar. Now those pādukas are in the house of H.R.Shenoy in Mumbai. They will be kept for darshan during the festival of Deepavali. (H.R.Shenoy, 2, Krishna Sadan, Sheetala Devi Temple Road, Mahim, Mumbai

Photographs of Tulasi Mātā are available with Shri Niranjan Balakrishna brothers of Photo Corner. Since the year 1980 Sunandamma, daughter of Saraswatibai, has settled in Anadashram and is looking after all the activities in the ashram. We are fortunate to have darshan of Sādhwi Sunandamma on several occasions.(The above details are provided by her.)

She has blessed us by giving her consent to collect, write and publish 'Chidākāsh Geeta' and the miraculous Leelas of Bhagawan Nityananda. By His grace we are able to offer our tiny efforts at the Feet of Bhagawan at our Anandashram in Bevinakoppa.
